What is a Dental Crown?
A dental crown is used to restore a compromised tooth. Teeth that have cracked, fractured or broken will benefit the most from a dental crown. Not only will your new crown provide a more aesthetically-pleasing dental option, but they can even help in regaining function of that area of the mouth. We offer porcelain, ceramic and same-day CEREC crowns that fit your needs.
Why are Dental Crowns necessary?
We often recommend patients get a crown if they have a tooth that has broken or cracked. The tooth may feel sharp and be uncomfortable when you run your tongue over it. If the tooth is severely broken, it can even affect the way that your smile looks. Crowns are durable, typically lasting for years or even decades before needing full replacement.
What makes you a candidate for Dental Crowns?
Before a dental crown is placed over a compromised tooth, we will perform an exam. The crown procedure is easy and done quickly in our office. It can typically be done with simple local anesthetic, so it’s safe for patients of all ages. Because your crown will last for years, you can expect a durable, resilient restoration that you can count on time and time again.
What can you expect during the procedure for Dental Crowns?
Local anesthetic is administered to numb the area that will be receiving the crown. The compromised tooth is to make room for the brand-new crown. Many crowns can be fabricated on-site and delivered the same day. This same-day CEREC crown can be made after digital impressions are taken and put into a revolutionary machine in our office that creates your permanent crown. You leave the office with your brand-new crown in just one comfortable, convenient appointment. Dr. Hardin can also order custom white gold or yellow gold crowns if this is preferred.
If you need a new dental crown or simply want to know more about your restoration options, call our office and we will help to answer all of your questions.
