Dental Emergencies – Same Day

What are Dental Emergencies?

A dental emergency can leave you in pain and unable to carry on with your busy schedule. Fortunately, we offer same-day appointments for all emergencies whether you’re an existing patient or have never been to our office. Our goal is to provide patients with immediate emergency care when it is most needed. Our appointments are conveniently scheduled so that they fit your lifestyle needs.

Why is treatment of Dental Emergencies necessary?

By forgoing treatment of a dental emergency, the problem can and will eventually get worse. Something that is relatively minor right now can turn into a major issue that causes severe pain and even infection. By coming into our office for immediate same-day emergency care, we’re able to provide you with the treatment that is needed. You can walk away feeling confident in your smile and without the pain and discomfort that was getting in the way of living your life.

What are some of the more common Dental Emergencies?

We consider an emergency to be any situation that is causing you pain, discomfort or that is frustrating or distressing. You can contact us at any time if you’re experiencing an emergency and we will work to get you in the very same day. Some of the more common emergencies our patients experience include:

  • Toothache and pain
  • Gum bleeding and inflammation
  • Abscesses and infections
  • Loose or lost restorations
  • Broken appliances and prosthetics
  • Post-op complications
  • Orthodontic emergencies
  • Severe tooth sensitivity
  • Broken, fractured and cracked teeth

What can you expect when receiving treatment for Dental Emergencies?

Your appointment will allow Dr. Hardin to evaluate your specific needs and provide examination to determine the nature of the dental condition(s).
X-rays are diagnostic tools to determine the conditions as well as the best and safest treatment options for your dental conditions.

Dr. Hardin can provide treatment recommendations and options with you at this appointment. Some simple treatments can also be completed, like small fillings and simple tooth extractions.

If antibiotics are recommended, you may need to take them before treatment can start. Our goal is to provide you the care that you need in a comfortable, and efficient manner to resolve your tooth conditions promptly.

If you have a dental emergency and need to be seen right away, call our office now and we will reserve time for you and Dr. Hardin. In many cases, you can be scheduled in the office for a same-day emergency appointment.

FILLINGS: First, we will administer local anesthetic so that the filling procedure is as comfortable as possible. The decay is then removed from the tooth completely so that only a small hole remains. This hole is prepped for the white filling material. The composite resin, which is white in color, is poured into the small hole and smoothed into place. A bright light is used to cure and harden the filling so that it is not able to fall out. The filling is polished to look beautiful and feel great.

IMPLANTS: To determine if you’re a good candidate for implants, you will (schedule) an exam and (general) consultation. Dr. Hardin and your dental team work to help explain the implant procedure to you when in our office. A 3-D digital cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging system is used to determine the area being considered for an implant. A highly specialized and accurate software will allow complete digital analysis and treatment planning for the correct position and size of the implant.

In most cases a simple dental implant can be placed in the office without need for sedation. For multiple implants and for specific treatment plans, sedation may be recommended. You may have sutures and healing appointments for the time during the integration of your implant.

Once the implant is healed and integrated, the next steps for crowns or dentures can be completed.

Dr Hardin and her team are committed to serving Centralia and the surrounding communities with outstanding service, dental expertise, and a fantastic overall experience.
